Where do you set up at the venue?

I am happy for a table to be setup wherever you prefer within the venue. This could be in the area where the reception drinks are held, by the bar or a  corridor leading to the breakfast room... it really depends on the venue! Venue coordinators will be able to help you decide where is best. To help me create the best possible artwork on the day, I kindly ask that my illustration table is set up indoors. If an outdoor space is required, please make sure it is a sheltered spot to protect my art and materials (no parasols).Please ensure the venue is notified in advance that I will need a table providing (min 4ft wide) and a chair. I no longer need to be located near a plug socket.

You charge per guest. Do 'guests' mean... people or illustrations?

Guests mean... guests! I charge per guest rather than per illustration. So if you book a 50 guest package, 50 people will be painted. No confusing "up to" numbers, just a clear promise of the artwork you can expect from your chosen package.

How many hours will you paint at our wedding?

For wedding live illustration, I offer a 5 or 8 hour package, with coverage ending no later than 9.30pm. These hours do not include the set up/pack down time as I do not charge for this. If you prefer for me to finish just before evening guests arrive, please let me know in the personalised questionnaire, however I do display a sign that makes it clear it is for day guests only!

How many people do you draw per painting?

For my A6 live illustrations, the maximum I can paint is usually around 4 adults per painting, or a family of 6 with small children. I try to encourage guests to take smaller group photos so more illustrations are created.

Do guests take home their illustrations?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! All Illustrations painted on the day will be on display for your guests to take home at the end of the night as their unique wedding favours! I will take a photo of each painting to ensure you get to see all the illustrations after the wedding.

How do I book you?

Accepted Answer

Booking me is a simple process. First, get in touch with your wedding date and venue details so I can check my availability. Once I confirm I’m available, I’ll send over my booking agreement for you to review and sign. A £150 deposit will then secure your date and your booking will be officially confirmed.

How far in advance should we book?

As soon as possible please! My diary is open for bookings up to 2 years in advance. Keep in mind, your booking will only be confirmed once the contract has been signed and a deposit is paid.

Question 8

How far do you travel, and what are your travel costs?

I predominantly cover the Midlands, however I am able to travel to other areas in England depending on my availability. Travel is charged at 40p per mile for the return journey from Nottingham to your venue. For venues located more than 90 miles from Nottingham, an overnight stay will be required and will be discussed as part of the booking.

What guest package should I book?

I always recommend booking a package that is 80-90% of your day guests. The reason for this is that not everyone may approach me for an illustration. However, If more guests come forward on the day, I’m happy to take photos and complete the extra illustrations later in my studio for £10 per guest.If you don’t know your exact day guest numbers when booking, that is not a problem! You can book and decide your package 3 months before the wedding.

Do you mind if people watch you paint?

Of course not! It's a fun opportunity to share my creative process and it often sparks wonderful conversations. Whether they just take a curious glance or engage in a discussion about the process, I welcome and enjoy the interaction!

Question 11

How do you choose which guests to paint on the day?

Working on a first come, first served basis has always worked best in my experience. In my pre-wedding questionnaire, you’ll have the option to choose whether you are happy with this, or would like me to prioritise the bridal/groom party first or focus on general guests.I avoid working from 'priority guest lists', as this takes time away from creating and can create a less relaxed atmosphere.

What happens if you don't finish illustrating all the guests?

I paint on average 5/7 people an hour depending on the complexity of the guests outfits, how many photos I need to take photos of on the day and how interactive your guests are! If I don’t manage to illustrate all your guests on the day, I will finish the remaining paintings in my studio and these will be posted to you 2-3 weeks after the wedding. These are then perfect to pop in with thank you cards after your wedding!

Do you Illustrate at other events?

Absolutely! I offer Live Illustration outside of peak wedding season for a variety of events, including big birthday and anniversary parties, balls and hen do's. Please message me with event details for pricing options.
